Medical Legal
Ulnar Osteotomy
Description
This medical legal visualization was the first corrective surgery and fifth of six total exhibits in a medical legal case. The case was of a UTV rollover accident where the victim was ejected and sustained significant injuries to her right arm.
The challenge of this project was in creating illustrative evidence for a courtroom audience that clarifies complex medical and scientific concepts. Being in a set of illustrations, it was also critical to adhere to style guides and client expectations in order to create a cohesive series of medical legal visualizations.

Sketch
My first sketch was based only on written medical file descriptions. The client provided preliminary feedback on my concept sketch, which included that some plates from previous surgeries were missing in the pre-op and post-op views.
Comprehensive
This sketch was created after I received radiographic data. I was able to use the x-rays provided to inform the anatomy of my illustrations. I also chose to add the x-ray images and provide an orientation image for reference and clarification.
Style Sheet
This was the style guide that my group members and I established for our exhibits. All six exhibits, while rendered individually, used these fonts, colours, and graphical elements to ensure that our panels were cohesive in storytelling.
